An interactive mapping tool helps a transmission line project stay environmentally compliant. By Kevin Seegmiller, Energy Environmental Group
Picture a transmission project crossing mountains and dotted with mining areas. Heavy rainfall is hitting these extreme slopes and loose soil from mining can cause a long–and recurring–list of things to inspect, report and repair.
While monitoring workplace safety is critical, construction managers have to be equally vigilant about another priority: environmental violations. A workplace injury can shut down a job site for an hour, maybe a few days, or, perhaps, longer. But environmental compliance violations will typically put a project on hold for weeks or even months.
